As preseason preparations continue, the Enforcers named five players captains on Monday, February 9th, for their 10th season of play. Congratulations to the following players as they lead the Enforcers to what has the potential to be a championship season!
On the offensive side of the ball, WR/QB Bob Slechter and OL Jim Lazansky were selected as team captains. Slechter, a member of the Enforcers since the team's inaugural season, has been a standout at wide receiver and this season will see some snaps at quarterback as well. A very versatile athlete, Bob's leadership has been a strong point for the Enforcers ever since the team's first game ten seasons ago. Jim Lazansky, a member of the Enforcers since the 2010 season, has been a mainstay on the CPD offensive line since joining the team. Jim will once again anchor the team's offensive line, and will continue to be a great leader for young players both on and off the field. Lazansky is a decorated member of the Riverside Police Department.

Defensively, LB Rick Richardson and SS Will Murphy were selected as captains. Richardson, entering his second season of play with the Enforcers, burst onto the NPSFL scene last season and immediately established a reputation as one of the league's hardest hitting defenders. Richardson will once again be called upon to lead the notoriously stout Enforcer front seven. Richardson is a member of the Wheeling Police Department. Safety Will Murphy was also selected as a captain as he enters his fifth season of play with the Enforcers. A well-established team leader, Murphy has wreaked havoc for opposing offenses, providing linebacker size in the defensive secondary. Will's high football IQ has helped countless younger players in the film room and on the field, and he will once again be asked to lead the Enforcer defense.

Finally, the 2015 special teams captain is LB Jason Slater, who enters his sixth season of play with the Enforcers. Since joining the organization, Slater has been a constant special teams contributor while also working his way to a starting linebacker spot. A strong tackler with a great nose for the ball, Slater's work ethic has turned into a blueprint for young players to follow as they balance both a grueling work schedule with the demands of full contact football. His leadership extends off of the gridiron, however, as he is very active in the team's fundraising and general operations.
